Inducted in 1956. Dr. Bill McColl was a big rugged All-American end at Stanford in 1950 and 1951, who also played defensive tackle when needed.
He captained the team his senior year and played in the 1952 College All-Star Game.
He starred for the Chicago Bears in 1952-1959 and earned his M.D. degree from the University of Chicago while playing in the NFL.
A four-sport star at Hoover High School, he became a renowned orthopedic surgeon and medical missionary working with victims of leprosy in Korea.
Of his six children, all Stanford graduates, two played in the NFL: Duncan, now a minister, and Milt, who earned his M.D. while winning Super Bowls as a linebacker for the 49ers.
