Inducted in 1957. Bill Miller was one of San Diego’s long line of champion pole vaulters. He won the Gold Medal at the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles with a world record vault of 14 feet 1 7/8 inches.
He also won two national intercollegiate vaulting titles, in 1932 amd 1933, while competing for Stanford University.
He tied for the National Collegiate championships the same years.
As a prep vaulter at San Diego High School, he won three state titles, in 1927, 1928, and 1929, and set a national interscholastic mark of 13 feet 2 5/8 inches in 1928.
