As it turns out, quarterback Josh Johnson wasn’t the end of the line for NFL scouts stopping by the University of San Diego campus.
Johnson, a fifth-round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008, may be followed into the NFL by John Matthews, a wide receiver named a first team All-American on the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) selected by the Associated Press.
Matthews, a 6-foot, 203-pounder, rewrote USD’s record book for receptions. Among his career records are 50 touchdown and 3,615 yards.
