San Diego Sports Commission

Stephen P. Cushman, President and CEO of Cush Enterprises is a fourth generation San Diegan long involved in promoting San Diego sports and San Diego business. Mr. Cushman has volunteered his time on more than 60 boards and commissions over the years.

In 2007 and 2008, Mr. Cushman instrumental in bringing the Red Bull Air Race to San Diego and he continues to assist with the negotiations to have San Diego to be an annual stop on the championship tour. For decades, Mr. Cushman has been involved in promoting and growing San Diego’s college football bowl games. He served as the Holiday Bowl President in 2005 and was the founding President of the North Island Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl also in 2005.

As if that wasn’t enough for San Diego sports enthusiasts, Mr. Cushman has also served as the Chairman of the San Diego Padres-Compadres, the Chairman of the Transportation Committee for Super Bowl XXXVII and served on the Super Bowl Executive Committee.

The Cushman Family foundation was instrumental in working with Scripps Ranch High School and helped raise $2.5 million to install an artificial all-purpose sports field that benefits thousands of high school atheletes annually.

As a tireless sports supporter and community philanthropist among his numerous leadership positions, Mr. Cushman currently serves as the Chair of the San Diego Unified Port District and the Chair of Sharp Memorial Hospital.
