San Diego Sports Commission

Established in 1999 by Ron Fowler, founding Chairman of the San Diego International Sports Foundation, Brad Fowler Memorial Scholarship Fund offers a one-year, $3,500 scholarship to four high school seniors in San Diego County each year.

The recipients must have demonstrated his or her ability to overcome personal obstacles associated with drugs or alcohol, a strong commitment to athletics and continuing their personal growth and development through higher education.

The following is a description of the scholarship, nomination criteria and submission process.

Description

  • One-year scholarship for $3,500 for the school year September ‘10 – June ‘11
  • Eligible expenses are college tuition, books and housing

Nomination Criteria

  • High school senior who will enroll in either a two- or four-year college
  • Has overcome personal obstacles and troubles in life associated with drugs or alcohol
  • Athletic achievement
  • Leadership ability
  • Academic achievement
  • Strong commitment to setting and reaching life goals

Please nominate eligible applicants by submitting a nomination form as well as a one-page essay completed by the applicant to:

Submission Deadline: May 7, 2010
