CalHiSports.com announced all-state teams for baseball and softball. Last winter's boys and girls basketball teams and last fall's all-state football teams are also posted on this link. Three San Diegans earned All-American honors on EA Sports teams for baseball and softball.

The Breitbard All-CIF teams have been the official All-CIF team of the San Diego Section since 1960. The teams are selected under the auspices of the Hall of Champions by a media panel with input from coaches.

U.S. Men's Water Polo team Olympians Genai Kerr and Brett Ormsby spoke and presented certificates to members of 2007 Breitbard All-CIF teams for fall sports on January 21 at the Hall of Champions. The Breitbard All-CIF teams have been the official All-CIF team of the San Diego Section since the section was formed in 1960. The All-CIF teams for the San Diego Section are selected under the auspices of the Hall of Champions. Kerr, a Coronado High alumnus, and Ormsby, a Valhalla High alumnus, were members of the 2004 Olympic team and the 2007 PanAm Games team that won the gold medal. Chargers Pro Bowl special teams player Kassim Osgood presented All-CIF certificates to members of the All-CIF teams in the 2006 fall sports season on Jan. 28 at the Hall of Champions. About 450 athletes and family members attended the event. This year began the 47th season the Hall of Champions presented All-CIF certificates. The Breitbard All-CIF team has been recognized since 1960 by the CIF San Diego Section office as the official All-CIF team. The team is voted upon by a media panel and includes input from coaches. Grossmont's A.J. Griffin in baseball and Escondido's Sarah Akamine in softball won Player-of-the-Year honors for the first time, but it was a repeat performance for several San Diego spring sports athletes.

The 2006 winners of the Russ Saunders Award, the Maureen Connolly Award and the Breitbard Male and Female Coach of the Year awards were announced on May 22 at the High School Sports Association Sports Awards Spring Breakfast at the Scottish-Rite Center in Mission Valley.

Chase Budinger was named Mr. Basketball in boys basketball and Jordan Franey and Paris Johnson shared top honors in girls basketball on the CalHiSports.com All-State basketball teams. Chase Budinger was named a McDonald's All-American and Student Sports All-American teams. San Diego juniors JayDee Luster of Hoover and Tyrone Shelley of Crawford were among 25 juniors named to the Student Sports All-American team.
