Howard Wright, a Patrick Henry High alumnus that played in the NBA and graduated from Stanford, presented Breitbard All-CIF certicates for the 2007-08 winter sports season at 7 p.m., Monday, April 21 at the Hall of Champions.
Wright played three years in the NBA and eight more professionally in Europe. He is now the Senior Director for Corporate Business Development at Qualcommm.
At Stanford, Wright was a four-year starter, a two-time All-Pac-10 and honorable menntion All-American in 1989. He played in the NBA with Dallas, Atlanta and in Orlando during Shaquille O'Neal's rookie season.
His father, the late Ernie Wright, founded Pro-Kids Golf Academy and Learning Center in San Diego. The program led to a national model that exposes inner-city kids to golf and academic programs. The Hall of Champions presents the Ernest H. Wright Sr. Humanitarian Award in his honor.
All athletes that made the first or second teams listed below in boys basketball, girls basketball, boys soccer, girls soccer, wrestling and girls water polo are invited. The awards presentation will last from about 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event is not a dinner and dress is casual. Parents, family members and friends are welcome to attend. There is no admission charge. The seating is limited to about 300 people, so depending on the turnout some some athletes may be asked to stand.
