MacMillan was U.S. Soccer's National Female Athlete of the Year in 2002, the National College Player of the Year at the University of Portland in 1995 and the CIF San Diego Section Player of the Year in 1990. She also played for the San Diego Spirit of the defunct WUSA pro league. The Breitbard All-CIF teams are listed below. The Breitbard teams have been the the official San Diego Section All-CIF team since 1960 and is selected under the auspices of the Hall of Champions. The All-CIF teams, with the exception of wrestling, are selected by a vote of a media panel with input from coaches. The All-CIF wrestling team is determined by the champions of each weight class at the Masters tournament. More photos are posted below the All-CIF teams. Click on photos for larger images.

Shannon MacMillan and the athletes are posed with two prestigious trophies won by San Diego athletes and on loan to the Hall of Champions. The trophy on the right is Bill Walton's 1977-78 NBA MVP trophy and the trophy on the left is Stephen Neal's 1999 Dan Hodge Award. The Hodge Award is college wrestling's Heisman Trophy equivalent. Walton is a Helix alumnus and Neal a San Diego High alumnus that plays football for the New England Patriots.
