Olshansky to speak at high school sports conference
Chargers defensive end Igor Olshansky is among the speakers that will appear at the REP 1 Sports Character and Leadership Conference on June 30 and July 1 at Orange County's Lutheran High in the city of Orange.
The conference is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 30 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 1. Registration is $250 for the weekend and includes lunch and materials. REP 1 is a non-profit 501 (c)3 organization dedicated to youth development.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and Olshansky will be among the NFL, NBA and Major League Baseball players appearing. Roethlisberger will appear by video conference.
Professional athletes and business leaders will address high school athletes on leadership, character development, dedication and discipline and share their experiences. They will provide tools and encourament to be leaders in a community.
In addition to the hearing from athletes and business leaders, high school athletes will have an opportunity to receive instruction on running form, mechanics, speed, change of directition and conditioning from the professional athlets as well as coaches and trainers.
Another feature is a parent's workshop covering nutrition, legal and safety issues, planning for college and communicating with teenagers.
