Beasley and Kerr named All-Americans

Steele Canyon High's Samantha Beasley, the All-CIF Player of the Year in softball, and Patrick Henry's Donna Kerr were named to the EA Sports All-American team chosen by Student Sports, the parent company of CalHiSports.com.

The San Diego State-bound Beasley was selected as a multi-purpose player. She previously was named the CalHiSports All-State team as the Medium Schools Player of the Year. As a senior, Beasley led the Cougars to a second straight CIF San Diego Section Division III title and was a repeat member of the All-CIF first team.

Steele Canyon is retiring Beasley's No. 7 jersey after a career which ended with a her hitting .521 in her final season with a total of 61 hits, seven homers, 24 RBI, and an ERA of 1.11 with 148 strikeouts.

The UCLA-bound Kerr was selected an All-American as a pitcher. She was named to the CalHiSports All-State team and also was a repeat member of the All-CIF first team for the San Diego Section.As a sophomore, she was the All-CIF Player of the Year for the San Diego Section when she led the Patriots to the CIF Division I title. She finished her career with the San Diego Section career record for strikeouts with 914 in four varsity seasons.

Kerr also recently returned from the The Netherlands, where she helped the USA Under-19 Junior National team win the Junior National World Championships. Kerr didn't allow a run while pitching five innings in the tournament.
