Kentucky Derby Party
- KFMB personality Larry Himmell will serve as emcee as the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and the San Diego Hall of Champions invite you to a Kentucky Derby Party on Saturday, May 3 at the Hall of Champions. The event is a fundraiser benefiting a new horse racing exhibit at the Hall of Champions.
The party will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. to coincide with the running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.
The following will be featured at the derby party:
Appearance by Hall of Fame jockey Eddie Delahoussaye, two-time Kentucky Derby winner — Gato Del Sol (1982) and Sunny’s Halo (1983).
Multiple flat screens for exceptional viewing.
Food Stations featuring fare from local restaurants.
Racing fun & games.
Informal Hat Contest (First prize is opening day passes and table for lunch at Del Mar, Wednesday, July 16).
Vendors selling hats and racing-related items.
No-host bar (featuring Mint Juleps).
Free parking.
