UCLA's San Diegans visit White House

Three San Diegans that played for the UCLA's women's water polo team that won a fourth straight NCAA title visited the White House.

UCLA's women's water polo team, which includes three San Diegans, visited the White House on June 24 and were greeted by President Bush for a ceremony that honored them as the 2008 NCAA champions. UCLA's fourth straight NCAA title prominently featured three San Diegans in the Bruins' lineup. Junior Tanya Gandy of Rancho Bernardo High was a second-team All-American, senior Brittany Rowe of University City High was a third-team All-American and junor Katie Rulon was a third-team All-American. UCLA defeated USC on May 11 in the championship match, 6-3, played at Stanford. Gandy scored two goals in the final and was named the NCAA Tournament MVP. Rowe has played on four straight NCAA championship teams.
