Alumni quote

Capt. Dawn Halfaker (U.S. Army retired) is an alumnus of the San Diego Classic while playing for Rancho Bernardo High. Halfaker played her college career for the Army at West Point and was wounded in Iraq in 2004 when she was one of the first American military women to lose a limb in combat in Iraq.

"The San Diego Classic was always a big tournament for our team and something we looked forward to every summer," Halfaker said. "It was and is now more than ever the best competition for high school teams and serves as a prelude to what you will see during the season. For high school teams it was our big chance to come together and play together after being spread across various club teams."
