The City Club of San Diego and the Hall of Champions will host a tribute to Union-Tribune sports writer Jerry Magee for Sports at Lunch on Oct. 29 on Center Court at the HOC in Balboa Park.
Sports at Lunch - 2008 Sports at Lunch, Oct. 14, San Diego Olympic medalists
The Hall of Champions Sports at Lunch event with San Diego Olympians has been postponed so the athletes can participate in the Junior Seau Legends Lunch on Oct. 14 at the Hyatt Regency in La Jolla. The Hall of Champions hopes to reschedule the event with gold medalists David Lee (volleyball) and Monique Henderson (track and field) and silver medalist Jesse Smith (water polo) if a date can be found.
Sports at Lunch - 2008 Sports at Lunch, Dec. 4, Raiders-Chargers rivalry
A renewal of last year's gathering of former Raiders and Chargers players before the annual rivalry game in San Diego is back by popular demand. The Raiders play the Chargers on Thursday, Dec. 4 at Qualcomm Stadium. The Former Chargers and Raiders will speak about the rivalry for Sports at Lunch on Center Court. Sweeney and Davidson will be joined by more Raiders/Chargers veterans to be announced at a later date. Tickets for Sports at Lunch are $25 for members and $30 for non-members. Sports at Lunch - 2008 Sports at Lunch, Dec. 5, USD and SDSU basketball
The Hall of Champions is taking Sports at Lunch on the road Dec. 5 to Seau's The Restaurant in Mission Valley. USD basketball coach Bill Grier and SDSU coach Steve Fisher will break bread, marking the sixth straight year for Sports at Lunch before the City Championship game. San Diego's College Football Season begins with the fourth annual San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl on Dec. 23 and the 31st annual Pacific Life Holiday Bowl on Dec. 30. The Hall of Champions will host Sports at Lunch on Dec. 16 on Center Court. Tickets are $25 for members and $30 for non-members. Chargers Executive Vice President A.G. Spanos announced Fred Dean is the franchise's 2008 inductee into the Chargers Hall of Fame. Spanos made the announcement on July 15 at Sports at Lunch at the Hall of Champions.
Sports at Lunch - 2008 Sports at Lunch, John Lynch and the NFL
John Lynch, a Super Bowl champion and nine-time NFL Pro Bowl safety from Torrey Pines High, spoke at Sports at Lunch in his hometown on the eve of NFL training camps opening. As a special feature to the event, Lynch welcomed San Diego State quarterback Kevin O'Connell, a third-round draft pick by the New England Patriots, to the NFL.

Former NBA head coach and USD alumnus Eric Musselman spoke at Sports at Lunch on June 11 and was joined by USD men's coach Bill Grier and USD women's coach Cindy Fisher at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park. SDSU All-American and Olympic bronze medalist Stephen Strasburg also attend and talk San Diego State baseball and about the Major League Baseball season just completed and coming up.
