Breitbard Stars of the Month, December, 2005

Three Chargers Pro Bowlers and an Oakland Raiders rookie from San Diego State are the Professional Stars of the Month for December. The Amateur Stars include the Ray Guy Award winner, a freshman All-American kicker, the WCC women's volleyball Defensive Player of the Year, a junior college All-American running back, one of San Diego State's all-time leading receivers and USD's leading scorer throughout a 10-3 start in men's basketball. High school Stars of the Month feature a national champion in cross country, two players who led their teams to state girls volleyball titles, a linebacker that led Oceanside High to a second straight CIF Division II title and Breitbard All-CIF Players of the Year in football and girls volleyball. The Stars of the Month will be honored at the 60th annual Salute to Champions Dinner on Feb. 28, 2006 at the Town and Country Resort. Breitbard Stars of the Month, November, 2005

A couple of hometown pro athletes highlight the November Stars of the Month: Toronto Argonauts quarterback Damon Allen, a Lincoln High alumnus named the Canadian Football League MVP, and Chargers linebacker Donnie Edwards, a Chula Vista High alumnus. Other honorees include Chargers offensive lineman Mike Goff, Philip Bretsch of USD's Pioneer Football League championship team, All-American USD volleyball player Lindsey Sherburne, Louisville field hockey All-American Jessica Javalet of Torrey Pines High and high school stars from football, volleyball, cross country, golf and tennis. Two AFC Players of the Week, a Gold Glover, a pair of collegiate stars for teams ranked No. 1 in the nation and a high school running back closing in on Justin Green's CIF San Diego Section career rushing record highlight the October Stars of the Month. Two Padres instrumental down the stretch to clinch the team's NL West title, a Chargers receiver who surpassed career milestones, a Heisman Trophy candidate, a USD volleyball player for a nationally ranked team and the great-grandson of a San Diego football legend highlight the September Stars of the Month. The Stars of the Month will be honored at the 60th annual Salute to Champions Dinner on 2-28-06 at the Town and Country Resort.
