Los Angeles Lakers forward Luke Walton was honored by the Hall of Champions as an April Star of the Month after putting together some of the best ball of the San Diegan's NBA career. Walton received his plaque on June 27 during a break at the Richard Jefferson and Luke Walton Basketball Camp at Francis Parker School's gym. Mt. Carmel High's Whitney Spence received her Breitbard Star of the Month plaque for April in swimming from 2004 Olympic marathon silver medalist Meb Keflezighi on May 18 at the CIF press conference/luncheon at the Hall of Champions. From one state champion to another, Chargers Pro Bowl fullback Lorenzo Neal received his December Star of the Month plaque from Poway senior Todd Schavrien. Neal won a state title as a high school wrestler at Lemoore and Schavrien won his title in 2006 for the Titans.

Hall of Champions Media Coordinator Tom Shanahan presents a February Star of the Month plaque to Bishop's junior Sarah Van Norman on April 11 at a school assembly. Van Norman was named the Breitbard All-CIF Player of the Year in girls water polo and led her team to the Division II title and overall No. 1 ranking for the San Diego Section.
