Breitbard Stars of the Month, December, 2007

The Breitbard Stars of the Month for pro sports fills out the Chargers Pro Bowl selections and includes a rookie. The amateur stars are from San Diego State, USD and San Diego high school alums from Utah, UCLA, BYU and Arizona State. The high school stars represent football, field hockey, volleyball, basketball and soccer. The Hall of Champions has been presenting Star of the Month awards since 1946. Every athlete named a Star of the Month receives an invitation to the 62nd annual Viejas Salute to the Champions dinner on March 4, 2008 at the Town and Country Hotel. The Breitbard Stars of the Month for pro sports represent the Chargers, Padres and six-time Pro Bowler from San Diego. The amateur stars are from San Diego State, USD, USC and a junior national champion not yet in high school. The high school Stars of the Month include athletes from football, cross country, volleyball, tennis and golf. The Hall of Champions has been presenting Star of the Month awards since 1946. Every athlete named a Star of the Month receives an invitation to the 62nd annual Viejas Salute to the Champions dinner on March 4, 2008 at the Town and Country Hotel.

The Breitbard Stars of the Month for pro sports include a Pro Bowler, rookie third baseman, a senior golfer and a San Diego State alumnus. The amateur stars are college athletes from SDSU and USD, a tranplanted San Diegan in Texas and English Channel swimmer. The high school Stars of the Month are picked with the Union-Tribune Stars of the Month. The Hall of Champions has been presenting Star of the Month awards since 1946. Breitbard Stars of the Month, August, 2007

The Breitbard Stars of the Month for August include a Cy Young candidate, an outfielder heating up in a division race, an ERA champion and a silver medalist. The amateur stars include the start of the college season in volleyball and field hockey, a three-time golf champion, a senior world champion an Olympic hopeful. The two high school stars are Aflac All-Americans. The Stars of the Month are invited to the 62nd annual Viejas Salute to the Champions dinner on March 4, 2008 at the Town and Country Hotel in Mission Valley.

The Breitbard Stars of the Month for July include a new Padres player as well as athletes from football, surfing and golf. The amatuers are highlighted by Pan American Games medalists and include soccer, cyling and two Paralympic world records. The high school honorees are from a couple of a major summer events in San Diego. Every athlete named a Star of the Month will receive an invitation to the 62nd annual Viejas Salute to the Champions dinner on March 4, 2008 at the Town and Country Resort. Breitbard Stars of the Month, June, 2007

The professional Breitbard Stars of the Month for June includes comeback players in soccer and golf and an all-time relief pitcher in baseball. A plethora of amateur stars represent college National Players of the Year, Junior National Champions and all-conference picks. The 2007 high school spring sports season finished in June with final competitions as well as announcement of All-CIF teams and Players of the Year. Athletes were honored in baseball, softball, track and field, volleyball and golf. Every athlete named a Star of the Month will receive an invitation to the 62nd annual Viejas Salute to the Champions dinner on a date to be announced in February, 2008. The Breitbard Stars of the Month for professional and amateur sports include the offensive leader of the Padres, a national champion in tennis, All-Americans in baseball, softball and golf and all-conference picks in baseball and softball. The high school Stars of the Month are jointly presented by the Hall of Champions and the Union-Tribune. The Hall of Champions has been presenting Star of the Month awards since 1946. The Professional Stars of the Month are two San Diego pitchers making their mark in the National League and two gold medalists in women's water polo. The Amateur Stars of the Month are college stars in baseball, volleyball and water polo, and high school Stars of the Month are jointly presented by the Hall of Champions and the Union-Tribune. The high school Stars of the month represent baseball, softball, lacrosse, track and field and volleyball. The Hall of Champions has been presenting Star of the Month awards since 1946. Every athlete named a Star of the Month is invited to the 62nd annual Viejas Salute to the Champions dinner on March 4, 2008 at the Town and Country Hotel.

An overwhelming number of candidates for Amateur Star of the Month led to the Hall of Champions picking nine winners in men's and women's basketeball, baseball, softball and women's water polo. The lone Professional Str of the Month is a familar name. The high school Stars of the Month are jointly presented by the Hall of Champions and the Union-Tribune. The professional Stars of the Month include a Breitbard Hall of Famer, at least one future Breitbard Hall of Famer with a major track record, a new Super Bowl champion and a game-winner in the Pro Bowl. The amatuer stars of the Month include a Pac-10 champion in wrestling, all-conference players in basketball, a national player of the week in baseball and an conference player of the week in softball. The high school Stars of the Month are jointly presented by the Hall of Champions and the Union-Tribune. The Hall of Champions has been presenting Star of the Month awards since 1946.

The January professional Stars of the Month feature a first victory on the PGA Tour and two NFL playoff stars. The amateur stars include a career scoring leader in basketball at San Diego State, a football bowl instant classic, men's and women's USD basketball players, a Stanford basketball All-American and a Naval Academy basketball player.
