Shawne Merriman’s Lights On Comedy Jam

On Friday, June 29th and Saturday, June 30th, Chargers Pro Bowler Shawne Merriman will host the “Lights On Comedy Jam,” a two-day charitable event. The proceeds benefit the Lights On Foundation/Pro Player Foundation, supporting the San Diego Salvation Army and the Alpha Project for the Homeless.

The two-day event is comprised of the following:

Kids Football Clinic
Friday, June 29th, 11a.m. – 1p.m at the Kroc Center, located at 6845 University Avenue. Kids ages 8-12 will participate in a free football clinic hosted by Shawne Merriman and other players/celebrities. Kids are selected by the Salvation Army and the Alpha Project.

VIP Reception at Stingaree
Friday, June 29th, 8 p.m. – 10 p.m, located at 454 Sixth Avenue. Invite only, including celebrity guests and sponsors. Reception will be held on the rooftop of Stingaree.

Community Day
Saturday, June 30th, 11a.m. – 3p.m. Sponsors and celebrities will restore and paint the Children’s Learning Center at the Door of Hope transitional living home for homeless mothers and their children.

Comedy Jam at 4th and B
Saturday, June 30th, 8:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. Live music by DMC (of the hugely popular pioneer hip-hop group Run-DMC), and hosted by comedian Alex Thomas (Comedy Central’s “Comedic Blend” and new show this Fall, “The Talent Agency”). Other performers include Kathleen Madigan, (Voted Best Female Stand-Up at the American Comedy Awards, Jay Leno Show, Comedy Central), Chris Spencer (“Def Comedy Jam" and "Delta Farce”), Michael Blackson (“Def Comedy Jam” and “Next Friday”) and Antoine Blackman (“Comic View” and “Access Granted”). Additionally, there will be a live and silent auction featuring autographed sports memorabilia, golf outings, and trips.
