Junior Player Development

Champions Sports Academy in conjunction with the National Football League Youth Football Fund offered a 6-week free football camp for boys and girls ages 12 – 14 years old.

The camp took place on Mondays and Tuesdays from September 18 - October 24 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Southcrest Recreation Center on Newton Avenue in Southeast San Diego.

Over 80 boys and girls came out to Southcrest Recreation Center for six weeks straight, learning the ins and outs of football. In addition to learning the basics on the field, participants were engaged in life skills education as well. Learning about teamwork and responsibility, goal setting, sportsmanship, self-control and smart moves was embedded into each and every practice.

Riddell equipment was provided by the NFL Youth Football Fund.

At the end of the camp, each participant received: a jersey, mouth guard, Life Skills cards, Certificate of Completion and an equipment bag.
