DONATE BLOOD IN REMEMBRANCE OF SEPTEMBER 11TH HEROES AT 13TH ANNUAL "PATRIOT'S DAY BLOOD DRIVE"
The San Diego Blood Bank is asking the public to donate blood in remembrance of America’s September 11th Heroes at the 13th Annual Patriots Day Blood Drive at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park on Thursday, September 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The first 100 blood donors will be awarded a pair of passes to the Haunted Hotel downtown or the Haunted Trail in Balboa Park. Radio stations The Max 105.7, and 102.1 KPRi-FM will be on site with music and prizes. In addition, the Mighty 1090’s Darren Smith will broadcast live from Noon – 3 p.m.
The blood drive on September 11th, made possible by Wells Fargo and Grossmont Healthcare District, is a commemoration of the dedicated San Diegans who gave blood in September 2001, as well as the many heroes who lost their lives that day. Thanks to the U.S. Navy, the San Diego Blood Bank was the first to fly 380 pints of blood requested by the New York Blood Center to New York at 1p.m., on September 11th, 2001.
Anyone who is at least 17 years old, in generally good health, weighs at least 114 pounds and provides photo I.D. may qualify to donate blood. A good meal and plenty of fluids are recommended. To schedule a blood donation appointment, call 1-800-4MY-SDBB
