The Hall of Champions museum was closed to the public in June of 2017 in order to complete the museum deaccession process and move the Breitbard Hall of Fame to Petco Park. The museum was closed because it was not sustainable. However, its closure will enable us to redirect funds to continue and expand all of the other Hall of Champions programs, including monthly and annual awards, community outreach initiatives, and the Breitbard Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame will soon be open at Petco Park, where visitors can experience it on game days or during Petco Park ballpark tours.
Two companies are handling the liquidation of the Hall's memorabilia collection. SCP Auctions out of Laguna Niguel is auctioning the higher-end, more well-known items. These items will all be auctioned online from October 18 through November 4. SCP is currently preparing the auction catalog, which will be available in early to mid-October.
Vintage Sports Collectors (VSC) out of Los Angeles is currently selling the lesser-known, more vintage and unique items that generally sell for $500 or less. These items are being sold through their website ( and eBay.
Proceeds generated from the liquidation of the collection will support the Hall's ongoing awards and community programs. Additionally, all auction and sale details will be sent via email. If you would like to be added to the Hall's email list, please subscribe at this link:
Thank you for your continued support of the Hall of Champions, and stay tuned for additional details as they're formalized over the weeks and months to come.
