San Diego Sports Commission

The San Diego Hall of Champions and the St. Augustine High School boys basketball team hosted more than 50 boys and girls from all over San Diego County to a free basketball clinic on the campus of the University of San Diego. Head coach at St. Augustine, Mike Haupt, his staff, and players made the most of the morning clinic by jam packing as many drills and stations as they could into one morning while still concentrating on individual instruction and the fundamentals of the game.

The clinic preceded the 6th Annual San Diego Elite Showcase which was played on the same floor just hours after the clinic on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. All kids that participated in the clinic were also invited to stay for the games that proceeded. As a part of the Champions Sports Academy-a youth sports initiative of the Hall of Champions- clinics such as this, provide an example of how CSA will continue to reach out to San Diego’s youth and give them the opportunity to enhance their skills, technique, and knowledge of sports in a safe, friendly environment.
