Although there are lots of questions about which teams belong after Helix, there is no doubt the Scotties are No. 1 in the San Diego Section as they swept both polls by ever-growing numbers this week.

Helix, whose only loss came in the season-opener to Eastlake and is now a distant memory, continues to roll. The Scotties are also rated the No. 1 team by CalHiSports for the Southern California Division II Bowl berth as well.

Oceanside, another Division II schools like Helix, improved to 4-1-1 and is rated No. 2 in the UT poll but unbeaten Poway, keeping the green theme alive (all three teams – Helix, Poway and Oceanside sport green uniforms), retained the No. 2 spot in the Sportswriters/Sportscasters poll.

Both rankings had the same team, in different order, in the first nine spots but the Union-Tribune moved Valhalla, losers only to ranked Mount Miguel by a single point, in at No. 10 after the Norsemen defeated previously unbeaten Grossmont. The Sportswriters/Sportscasters favor streaking Valley Center, which has won six straight after a season-opening loss to San Pasqual.
