SAN DIEGO—Nov. 2, 2011—It’s the time of year when there are few major shakeups in the high school football polls.
Few, but some.
While Helix continued to dominate the No. 1 position, La Costa Canyon, which started the season in the Top 10 before struggling early and dropping out, made great strides after an impressive victory over highly-rated Oceanside.
With the 21-16 triumph, the Mavericks leaped from No. 9 to No. 5 in the Union-Tribune poll and from No. 10 to No. 6 in the Sportswriters/Sportscasters Top 10. Oceanside conversely, slipped to No. 8 in the S/S and No. 7 in the UT.
