The San Diego Hall of Champions is pleased to announce the 2009 Breitbard All-CIF teams in 12 spring sports. The Breitbard All-CIF teams have been the official teams of the CIF San Diego Section since 1960 when the section was formed by breaking away from the Southern Section. The teams are selected by a media panel with input from coaches. The guidelines for choosing the teams were approved by San Diego Section commissioner Dennis Ackerman.
Retired Padres pitcher Randy Jones, the 1976 Cy Young Award winner, will present the Breitbard All-CIF certificates at 7 p.m. on June 22 at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.
Jones will present the certificates to members of the first and second teams in baseball, softball, boys track and field, girls track and field, boys swimming, girls swimming, boys volleyball, boys tennis, boys golf, gymnastics, boys lacrosse and girls lacrosse.
Susan Cooper Photography will provide photos of the All-CIF teams to the athletes and make additional photos available for purchase. You can view the fall and winter All-CIF teams on the HOC website for examples of the team photos. KBCsports.com will broadcast the awards ceremony on the Internet and also make DVD copies of the program available for purchase.
Athletes are encouraged to wear a shirt, pullover or jacket that represents their school.
There are no reservations required for the event and there is no admission charge to the museum. Family and friends are welcome to attend, but seating is limited. The event is not a dinner. It is only an awards presentation ceremony.
