Padres closer Heath Bell and infielder Edgar Gonzalez will speak at Sports at Lunch Tuesday, May 5 at the San Diego Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.

Padres announcer Ted Leitner will serve as a moderator for the guests that includes Jeff Idelson, the president of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, N.Y. Idelson will speak on the latest news from the Hall of Fame.

Honored guests that will be in the audience are three members of the Hall of Fame — Tony Gwynn, Rod Carew and Jerry Coleman. Gwynn and Carew were inducted as players and Coleman as a broadcaster.

Bell and Gonzalez will speak about the Padres and the 2009 season. Bell is in his third season with the Padres and his first year as the Padres’ closer. Gonzalez, an Eastlake High alumni, is a versatile utility player in his second big-league season after a strong rookie season playing alongside his brother, All-Star first baseman Adrian Gonzalez.

Tickets

Tickets are $30 at the door.
