Now it was Lincoln’s turn.
A week after stunning Cathedral Catholic and ending the Dons’ 26-game winning streak, the Hornets themselves were stymied by St. Augustine which held Lincoln scoreless until the game’s final minutes in an 18-7 victory at Balboa Stadium.
Lincoln did not complete a pass until 7:27 remained in the game as 6-foot-6 Victor Dean was double-teamed and quarterback Jake Marrion was harassed into two interceptions. Without starting RB Davon Dunn (knee), the running game was unable to bust one.
Meanwhile, St. Augustine QB Evan Crower rebounded after throwing three first half interceptions to pitch TD passes of 2 and 49 yards to deliver the victory.
St. Augustine improves to 6-1 and 2-0 in Eastern League play while Lincoln falls to 4-2-1 and 1-1.
