San Diego Sports Commission

By Steve Brand

One of the rewards for being considered a Top 10 team in the San Diego Section is you get to take off the first week of the 12-team playoffs.

So, programs like No. 1 Oceanside and No. 2 La Costa Canyon will get to rest their players this weekend while their potential opponents battle for the opportunity to move into the quarterfinals on Nov. 27. Not only do they get a chance to recover from injuries, they get to fully scout their upcoming foe.

Once again there was little movement in either poll as the top dozen teams have clearly established themselves.

In the Sportswriters/Sportscasters poll, Ramona slipped out of the Top 10 after getting buried by Oceanside as Mission Hills moved in, hopping over Valhalla to No. 9. The Union-Tribune voters determined losses to No. 1 Oceanside and No. 6 Valley Center were not enough to dislodge Ramona.

Here are this week’s Top 10s. Be sure to check for scores and game stories Friday night at www.utprepsports.com and www.nctvarsity.com.
