November 9, 2011

Heading into the final week of the regular season, there was little movement atop the high school football polls.

In fact, neither the Sportswriters/Sportcasters nor the Union-Tribune saw any reason to adjust its top four teams after all scored impressive wins on the eve of Saturday’s annual playoff seeding meeting.

Below that, however, Eastlake’s stunning loss to Olympian and word that Madison quarterback Chase Knox suffered a finger injury (he did return to guide the Warhawks to two second half touchdowns in a 13-13 tie with Point Loma), jumbled the lower five.

Eastlake, the only team to beat Helix this season, continued its slide, dropping to No. 10 in the UT and completely out in the S/S, being replaced by hard-charging Mission Hills. Madison maintained its spot at No. 6 in the UT but slid to No. 9 in the S/S.
