Inducted in 1981. Marten Mendez, a San Diego native, was baskerball player at Municipal Gym in Balboa Park when he first saw people playing badminton.

Inducted in 1971. Karen Hantze Susman won the Wimbledon Ladies Singles championship in 1962 at age 19.

Inducted in 1993. Joe Alston is a San Diego High and San Diego State grad. Joe won 12 badminton national championships and was ranked number one nationally 28 times.

Inducted in 1975. Evelyn Boldrick Howard emerged as San Diego’s first woman national champion in badminton in an era when this city was the capital of the sport in America.

Inducted in 1958. Dave Freeman is recognized as the greatest badminton player of all time. He played the world’s best for fourteen years (1938-1949, 1953-1954) and never lost a match.

Inducted in 1980. Dr. Bud Meuhleisen won 69 National and International Racquetball Championships and is acknowledged within the sport as the “Father of Racquetball”.
