FOOTBALL TAKES CENTER STAGE AT “SIGNING PARTY II” on Feb. 4

After drawing more than 500 student-athletes, parents and coaches to the early National Letter of Intent Signing Party in November, another large crowd is expected for “Signing Party II” on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at the San Diego Hall of Champions.

This time football, boys and girls soccer and boys water polo will take center stage starting at 8 a.m. in the bi-annual event that has student-athletes announce where they will be attending college in the fall before literally signing their NCAA National Letters of Intent.

Although student-athletes in all the other sports were able to sign in November, anyone who could not attend that event or who has since decided which college they will attend, are also encouraged to come to make their announcement.

The event is hosted by the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park and is free. Those who will be making their announcement and signing are asked to arrive by 7:30 a.m.

Q-A ON SIGNING PARTY II:

What:  Student-athletes will be making their announcement about where they will be signing their National Letters of Intent. Individuals will be called up by school on a random basis to make their announcement and then can go to the Signing Table to get their pictures taken professionally. Those pictures will be available online within 24 hours.

Where: San Diego Hall of Champions in Balboa Park

When:  Wednesday, Feb. 4. Please arrive before 7:30 a.m.—doors open at 7 a.m. Light snacks available. Event will start at 8 a.m. sharp.

Who:  The Feb. 4 National Letter of Intent signing day is specifically for football, boys and girls soccer and boys water polo. HOWEVER, anyone who was unable to attend Signing Party I on Nov. 12 is invited to attend and make the official announcement.

Why:  By having a Signing Party, student-athletes can share with their peers and the media (UT, KUSI and numerous other media outlets) their decision. It is early so the student-athlete can sign and get back to school while still having a fun time celebrating.

Cost: The event is free so family and friends are invited.

Dress:  Please wear school clothes as we expect to be finished well before 10 a.m. If you wish to wear apparel from your college/university, feel free to do so.  In the past some have dyed their hair or painted their faces—is that you?

How:  The student-athletes will be called up to the stage by high school (Example: All Rancho Bernardo High student-athletes who are announcing come to stage at one time). The student-athletes will be given a microphone and be asked to 1. Give their name, 2. Give their sport, and 3. TA-DA where they will be going to college in the fall.  Easy.

This is a fun, high-energy, exciting time, for both the athletes and the parents, so come join us. No RSVP is required
