HALL OF CHAMPIONS HOSTS AN AUCTION

sdhoc

The Hall of Champions museum was closed to the public on June 15 in order to complete the museum deaccession process and move the Breitbard Hall of Fame to Petco Park. The museum was closed because it was not sustainable. However, its closure will enable us to redirect funds to continue (and expand) all of the other Hall of Champions programs, including monthly and annual awards, community outreach initiatives, and the Breitbard Hall of Fame. The grand opening date at Petco Park is TBD, although likely to occur in September or October of 2017.

Regarding the museum closure and memorabilia collection, two companies will manage the liquidation of the Hall’s memorabilia assets. SCP Auctions out of Laguna Niguel will handle the higher-end, more well-known items. These items will all be auctioned online. SCP has removed all items from the premises and is currently preparing the auction catalog. This auction will take place online October 4-21, 2017, and auction catalogs will be distributed via email in late September.

Vintage Sports Collectors (VSC) out of Los Angeles will sell the lesser-known, more vintage, and unique items that generally sell for $500 or less. These items will be sold through their website and via eBay. An overview of the items VSC will be selling is on their website (http://www.vscollector.com) and these items will be available for purchase starting July 12.

Proceeds generated from the liquidation of the collection will support the Hall’s ongoing awards and community programs. Additionally, all auction and sale details will be sent via email. If you would like to be added to the Hall’s email list, please subscribe at this link: https://sdhoc.com/subscribe

Thank you for your continued support of the Hall of Champions, and stay tuned for additional details as they’re formalized over the weeks and months to come.
